Singer-songwriter Lara Lafferty recently put together a world tour in a house – “The Eras Tour at Home (Lara’s Version)” – her version of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, song for song and move for move. Swift’s Eras Tour, which began on March 17, 2023, and will conclude on December 8, 2024, after 152 shows across five continents.
Lafferty explains:
“We recreated the show for fun, down to recording and producing all backing vocals, learning the choreography, and recreating costumes as best as our budget allowed. The show was intended to be premiered one night only on TikTok and our livestream unexpectedly crashed, so we filmed it all in one take as originally planned and posted the show to YouTube as a live premiere.”
“The Eras Tour at Home (Lara’s Version)” required a full year: six months to plan, one month of dancing, and the entire 12 months spent on recording harmonies. A new edition of the show is under consideration. This one would be performed live.
Lafferty learned 3.5 hours of material, danced for the first time in six years, and recorded and produced hundreds of vocal tracks. Through it all, she rediscovered how much she loves performing live. An audience of 74,000 people watched the one-night-only performance, while millions of viewers have watched the social media clips.
Lafferty sums up the experience, “My biggest thanks of all has to go to Lizzy, who was as crazy as me to take this on for absolutely no reason. And to our friends, who this would not have happened without. I’m sure I will have more to say at a later date, but for now, I’ll leave it at THANK YOU TIMES A MILLION.”
