Brooklyn-based trio Gooseberry returned in April to announce their most ambitious project: their debut full-length LP, All My Friends Are Cattle, due for release on September 6th. Now, the group is sharing their fourth and final single, “Baby Do You?” The track is upbeat and punky, inspired by early Green Day and sounding almost Arctic Monkeys-esque.
Gooseberry frontman Asa Daniels calls “Baby Do You?:”
“A fun, silly punk tune about getting high and watching HBO. The world gets increasingly crazier each year, or so it seems. More and more it feels like we’re careening off the rails without much ability to change things. So why not get high and wonder if ET is already here posting celeb crushes on Tumblr?”
“Baby Do You?” is the final single from the group’s debut full-length LP. Each song is unique, highlighting the incredible lyrical range and blend of sounds uniquely Gooseberry. From punchy punk rock to Beatles-y singer/songwriter tunes, Gooseberry proves they can do it all and will constantly keep you guessing about what’s next. With All My Friends Are Cattle, the band showcases their knack for infectious melodies and emotionally resonant storytelling, leading listeners on a sonic journey that is both familiar and refreshingly unpredictable.
In April, Gooseberry announced their debut full-length album, All My Friends Are Cattle. They delivered the first taste of the LP in the form of gritty alt-rock single “Kikiyon.” The album was tracked over the course of three months, predominantly at Precision Sound Studios in New York City. Drums were recorded by Grammy-winner James ‘Jimmy T’ Meslin (Dream Theater, John Petrucci, Rush). Grammy-nominated engineer Colin Bryson (Zach Bryan, J Balvin, Willow Avalon) served as producer and recording engineer (reprising his role from the Validate Me EP). Grammy-winner Phil Joly (The Strokes, Lana Del Rey, Daft Punk) mixed the record, and Jennica Best (Colatura) mastered it. Honourary fourth member Dan Janis (Baked Goods) provided saxophone and flute for a handful of tunes.
This debut full-length record represents Gooseberry’s most ambitious project yet, showcasing the expansive distance they cover, from punch-you-in-the-mouth punk rock to lyrically-driven singer-songwriter to atmospheric prog rock. Though powered by heavy ’90s alternative influences, this LP showcases what Gooseberry can be: an exciting amalgamation of many genres and sounds, taking the listener on a journey that never once leaves the ear tired and consistently keeps the mind guessing where they will head next.
Gooseberry is hitting the road this August for their biggest headlining tour to date, including a supporting show for Ringo Starr And His All Starr Band!
