Coping Method Premiere Their Mercilous Single “Where Spirit Meets Bone”

When you hear what they have to offer, there’s no denying that Coping Method has no shortage of spirit. Like any fine metal act, spirit is basically the secret sauce to being good at your job. So, as an introduction of sorts, “Where Spirit Meets Bone” works very well for this fine young trio. It serves as the blistering and blazing title track to the band’s debut full-length album.

As we await its release on October 9th via FiXT Music, we have this scorching single to enjoy an onslaught of aggression, emotion, and boldness. The song expresses the sense of betrayal, cynicism, and the desire for freedom that comes from an unhealthy association. Like the guitars, the lyrics are just as intense, an expression of the animosity and displeasure that comes from being manipulated and repeatedly deceived.

Commenting on the song, lead singer Tyler Simpson states:

“Whilst crafting this entire curriculum, one of our primary goals was for each trainee to find their own meanings in each Exercise.”

Guitarist Jed Stark adds:

“‘Where Spirit Meets Bone’ is based on the Human Spirit. Although it was inspired by the phrase from Miller Williams’ moving poem, COMPASSION, I think the phrase can mean something different to everyone. To me, ‘Where Spirit Meets Bone’ is where action begins. To me, it represents building the courage to take control of your life and remove yourself from harmful situations, for example.”

As hard as you can handle, Coping Method’s sound is a combination of metal, metalcore, nu-metal, rock, and alternative. Where Spirit Meets Bone is both personal and relatable. The album builds on a lot of the themes introduced in the title track, delving into inner demons and self-destructive tendencies. What’s truly special about this release is the band’s ability to weave intricate emotions into their music without making it feel forced. In addition to their uncanny musical abilities, the group represents a lot of authenticity. There’s no sugarcoating it; life is hard and bad things happen. And sometimes we need an outlet for that negative energy.
