For someone fairly new to the game, Blace comes across as a seasoned veteran in the game of rock. The singer and songwriter is here today to debut his brand-new track “Parasite.” It’s a well-written, emo and punk-styled rock song with a modern pop-radio sensibility. It’s quite impressive from an individual who only started taking music and songwriting seriously about three years ago. On “Parasite,” he demonstrates impressive songwriting abilities, understanding what it takes to compose a radio-friendly sound while remaining true to his artistic vision.

With its urgent tone and pace, “Parasite” explores the chaotic and painful dynamics of partnerships where one person is like a burden to the other or a parasite. That person clings to the other party, trying to keep the facade going like they feel fine. Meanwhile, inside, they couldn’t feel more insecure and out of place.

Discussing his new single, Blace states:

“‘Parasite’ is a song I really tried to perfect, so I’ve changed some things here and there with the hook, but it was mostly written and recorded about two years ago. My buddy Jake Magness mixed and mastered the final cut of the song. It’s an up-tempo emo rock song about real things, real feelings, feeling unworthy and using chemicals to cope, and just flat-out being reckless at someone else’s dispense.

“I think it’s very relatable no matter what side of the aisle you’re looking at things. I was in a dark place when I wrote the song, and the lyrics ring true to what was going on in my life at the time and the way I felt about things and myself. Thankfully, I’ve grown a lot since then, but this one really means a lot to me. And I’m super excited about finally getting to release it.”

The silver lining of the COVID pandemic and its associated lockdowns was the time it created for people. Blace used the downtime to his advantage, finally taking the bull by the horns and fully indulging in his lifelong love of music. He began to try his hand at songwriting and even acting. Blace was always a fan of rock n’ roll and songwriting, but it wasn’t until the lockdowns came that he really had the opportunity to see what he was made of. Once the fire was lit, there was no going back. His influences are both far and wide and old and new. Blace is heavily inspired by the foundations of rock, punk, and alternative.

Having moved around a lot as a child, from Maine to North Carolina to Minnesota, Blace has now settled in Los Angeles. It is here that he began to solidify his artistic identity, and he continues to ride the wave. Passion and persistence have enabled Blace to travel a long way, and he wants to inspire others to follow their own dreams and carve their own paths.
