Scared of Sharks Release New Single “Is Water Wet?” Ahead of Debut EP

Punk rock band Scared of Sharks just dropped their latest single, “Is Water Wet?”, a teaser for their upcoming debut EP, Double Happiness, set to release on August 28th. The band, originally from Mogareeka and now based in Wollongong, formed in 2016 by Taylor Shwifty and his brother Jack Malolakis. They started their journey at the Cobargo Folk Festival and hit the ground running from there, playing gigs up and down the east coast of Australia.

“Is Water Wet?” captures the band’s signature style with a humorous twist. Taylor Shwifty describes the song as “a funny little punk rock’n’roll number born out of the silliest of late-night conversations (many of which took place at Rose Street), thinking that we’re having a highly intellectual discussion when in fact we’re just carrying on like pork chops.”

The single follows their previous release “Stumble” and showcases the group’s sonic progression since their first song, “Beach Wog,” in 2021. As fans eagerly await the full EP, “Is Water Wet?” offers a glimpse of what’s to come from Scared of Sharks. Their unique blend of humor, musicianship and raw energy promises a memorable debut.
