Petty Human Emotions Releases “Lady in the Lake”; First Single Off LP ‘Outside’
Petty Human Emotions to release the first single “Lady in the Lake” gearing up for their second LP ‘Outside’ dropping August 16th.
On July 19th, Los Angeles’s Petty Human Emotions will release the first single, “Lady in the Lake,” gearing up for their second album Outside, which drops on August 16th. “Lady in the Lake” brings memorable melodies driven by their thoughtful lyrical approach, while also leaning into their sardonic self-awareness, Petty Human Emotions are setting themselves apart from the crowd as not just another, “LA Rock” band.
“Our single Lady in the Lake was inspired by an old legend of the same name from the Adirondack town of Lake Placid where I grew up, and it also is in remembrance of someone I knew personally who drowned some years back,” explains James Nardiello, the band’s guitarist.
Nardiello admits:
“I knew I wanted to do something more ambitious and challenge myself with this record especially compared to my previous output.”
They aren’t a maniacally over-produced band with a manufactured sheen that desperately panders to the masses nor are they members of the exclusive lo-fi club that will posture as if they have zero interest in impressing you. Petty Human Emotions are here to impress you. A transparently independent Alternative rock band that formed in early 2023 but they’re already delivering a “here-to-stay” calibre of live performances that are tighter than a nickel in a penny loafer.
Although this is technically the band’s sophomore release, it will still be a first for them in some ways. Lacking a band at the time, the debut album was recorded almost entirely by Nardiello himself. “Recording Outside with a full band allowed each member to bring their distinct style and background to serve these songs, and I am thrilled with the results.” The band feels confident that Outside accurately represents more than just their efforts to improve upon previous musicality and songwriting. However, they feel that listeners will easily recognize that the same quality and attention to detail has been applied to every facet of the production.
