Mark Bryan, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, lead guitarist, and co-founder of Hootie & The Blowfish, is set to release his new single, “Ain’t Nothin’ Better,” on July 19th. The track is from his upcoming album, Popped, slated to drop this fall on Vere Music.

“Ain’t Nothin’ Better” follows on the heels of “To You My Friend” and “Coastin’.” All three tracks appear on Popped, Bryan’s fifth solo album, which spans the musical spectrum, ranging from Americana, folk ballads, Caribbean-flavoured pop, doo-wop, and heavy rock.

Bryan explains:

“The creative process is where my heart and soul are at, the songs come from God knows where you feel something going on, you get a vision for it and then you make it happen.”

Formed in 1986, Hootie & The Blowfish sold over 26 million records in the U.S., including their 1994 album, Cracked Rear View, and hit singles such as “Hold My Hand,” “Let Her Cry,” and “Only Wanna Be With You,” all co-written by Mark Bryan.

Opening on plush a cappella vocals, “Ain’t Nothing Better” rolls into a catchy melody blending tangs of pop and Americana. A sparkling piano and twangy guitars give the tune a soft, charming swing topped by Bryan’s slightly raspy, dreamy vocals. A gentle, piano-filled bridge leads to another round of sumptuous a cappella harmonies accompanied by finger snaps.

Drenched in low-slung, simmering surfaces, “Ain’t Nothing’ Better” delivers a fluid, feel-good sensation that’s pleasantly seductive.
