Lucy Isabel Premieres Her Reflective New Single “Blind Ambition”
A real genuine singer-songwriter, Lucy Isabel premieres her new single “Blind Ambition” from her brand new album ‘All the Light.’
Art is very often a beacon for change and evolution, factors that Lucy Isabel has leaned on with her songwriting. Today, she shares some life lessons with the premiere of her new single “Blind Ambition.” The release of the song precedes her upcoming full-length album All the Light.
As we await that album’s release on October 11th, we have “Blind Ambition” to enjoy, a traditional pop folk song about personal and spiritual growth. By no means a new artist; the last few years have been transformative and, at times, hard for Isabel. She documents it all in this new album, a collection of songs about life and adaptation.
Discussing “Blind Ambition” and the events that inspired it, Isabel tells us:
“In June 2023, I made a solo trip out to the West Coast for my best friend’s wedding. It was the first time in a long time that I traveled without my daughter for anything other than work. Suddenly, I had all of this time to just think, and the chorus for ‘Blind Ambition’ came to me.
“When I was 22, I went on a life-changing trip around the world. It suddenly occurred to me how little I knew about just about everything. In writing ‘Blind Ambition,’ I was able to expand upon that feeling: the older I get, the younger I feel, because I become more and more aware of how much there is to learn about the world around me.”
Isabel is using All The Light as an opportunity for reflection. A lot has transpired in her life and globally over the last few years. Personally, she has gotten married, had a child, and unexpectedly lost her father. All of this has combined to help her mature as a person and artist. The album is a quick glance into Isabel’s life and her most honest and down-to-earth set of songs yet. After the release of her last album, Rambling Stranger, she felt confident but also lost in a sense. Then, the global pandemic arrived, which only made things worse. It was the birth of her daughter in April 2021 which reinvigorated her interest in her career.
Musically, All The Light leans into Isabel’s background as a folk singer. She still uses a live band, but this album has a greater focus on acoustic instruments. She’s created a very relatable album with sentiments and ideas that will be easy for any young person to really engage with.
