Tea Eater Unveil “I’m Starting a Podcast” Music Video; Sign with A Diamond Heart Production
Brooklyn alternative art noise punk band Tea Eater shared a new music video for their song “I’m Starting a Podcast.”
Brooklyn alternative art noise punk band Tea Eater just announced that they signed to producer and songwriter Vanessa Silberman’s A Diamond Heart Production/Amethyst Trax label in collaboration with musician and producer Jasno Swarez’s La Fam Recordings to release their debut LP. The band also announced the first two tour dates from their upcoming Fall 2023 European/UK Tour and shared a new music video for their song “I’m Starting a Podcast.”
Tea Eater is led by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Tarra Thiessen of the New York bands Gustaf and Sharkmuffin. Thiessen wrote many of these songs during covid lockdown, which took inspiration from old movies, the music community in Brooklyn, and the digital music community she discovered on Twitch. Tea Eater’s debut LP was recorded during the summer of 2021 at Chase Park Transduction Studios in Athens, GA, with Drew Vandenburg (Bambara, Faye Webster, Of Montreal) with Vram Kherlopian on bass and Alex Tuisku on drums. Thiessen’s vocals were produced by Vanessa Silberman at A Diamond Heart Production in NYC.
Tea Eater’s sound combines catchy hooks with sardonic lyrics about obsessions, killing your doppelganger, and how the DMV is really the worst. With the live band officially forming in 2022, Tea Eater quickly established themselves through their high-energy live shows and DIY ethos through the New York scene. The current live band consists of Tarra Thiessen on vocals/guitar, Vram Kherlopian on guitar/vocals, Lindsey Ann Lawless on bass/vocals, and Abdon Valdez on drums.
Since the self-release of their first single, “I’m Starting a Podcast,” available exclusively on Bandcamp and on a physical 7″ flexi-disc postcard, Tea Eater have shared the stage with Thee Oh Sees, and toured the U.S. East Coast. The new music video for “I’m Starting a Podcast” was filmed at Sunset Diner in Brooklyn. The video features numerous rubber chickens and plastic pigs – many of whom also function as percussion instruments in Gustaf’s live shows.
The band’s debut album is set to be released in the fall of 2023 via A Diamond Heart Productions/Amethyst Trax (Symphonic Distribution) in collaboration with La Fam Recordings.
