If you’re a punk rock traditionalist, then you’ll be sucked right in by Spider and their brand-new single “Tripwire.” Debuting today with an accompanying lyric video, this is a 110-second punk rock assault that hits you right smack dab in the face, like all memorable punk anthems tend to do.

This song moves a mile a minute, and it’s not all just predicated on passion and energy; the track also features some rather thought-provoking lyrics, whose message is enhanced by the cleverly animated images that appear throughout the lyric video.

Discussing the song, the band states:

“‘Tripwire’ was co-written with our good friend John McCree (Zero Down, One Square Mile) during his tenure in Spider, we pushed ourselves to the limits physically and creatively during this period. This is probably one of the best songs we’ve written to date. It captures the spirit of a band hellbent on resilience and the will to thrive during uncertain times.”

What’s so exceptional and worthwhile about Spider as a band is that they play and write punk the way it was always meant to be, in that late ’70s Sex Pistols style, where you lay it all on the line, with a take no prisoners attitude. The urgency is what makes a band like this so easy to gravitate towards, and it’s only accentuated by their raw and merciless live performances. Each member comes with a certain well-earned punk rock pedigree, with the quartet composed of former members of Channel 3, Legend of the Seagullmen, Walk Proud, and Bullet Treatment.

As a unit, they have performed at some of the biggest punk festivals in the world, including Riot Fest, Rebellion Festival, Punk Rock Bowling Festival, Back To Future Festival, and many more. With a new EP entitled Death Match dropping soon, and accompanying tour dates, it’s a full-on assault, and it’s being led by Spider.
