Rock, pop, and country singer-songwriter Pamela Laws releases her new single, “Marina,” a track lifted from her upcoming album, The Ones I Love.

Laws explains, “‘Marina’ is the story of how love and light found me in the midst of loss. My father was my pilar. Though a man of few words, he was a gentle giant, a kind, loving consistent presence in my life. My anchor. Marina is the story of my last 7 weeks with my father and the light that got in during dark times.”

Produced by Jack Petruzzelli, engineered by Justin Guip, and co-written with Adam Bernstein, “Marina” follows on the heels of Laws’ 2022 EP, High West, featuring “Man in Black” and “Dry My Tears.”

Originally from Houston, Texas, Laws grew up in California. She started her career singing backing vocals for Counting Crows. As half of the acoustic duo Seven Day Diary, signed to Warner Chappell and Warner Bros Records, Laws released two records, followed by a role in the movie, Mad City, starring Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta. Pamela played the part of a folk singer and sang Lou Reed’s song, “Is Anybody Listening?”

“Marina” opens on a low-slung acoustic guitar topped by Laws’ silky-smooth vocals, imbuing the lyrics with warm poignancy. Soft, glowing harmonies give the tune gentle depth as an evocative piano merges with a fluent guitar, adding polished, graceful layers of sound.

Revealing refractions of sadness and appreciation, the sonic geometry of “Marina” infuses listeners with the tender compassion of love and loss.
