Opus Arise Pose “The Unanswered Question” with Their Latest Video Premiere
Music is the ultimate form of expression, and that expression is arguably even more powerful without words, as demonstrated by Opus Arise and their brand new single “The Unanswered Question.”
Music is the ultimate form of expression, and that expression is arguably even more powerful without words, as demonstrated by Opus Arise and their brand new single “The Unanswered Question.” The instrumental act has released an impressive visualizer video to accompany the song, one from their latest album, The Network, self-released this past December. Along with the full-on assault of electric guitar and various orchestral instruments, like cello, viola, and violin, you get a visualizer video that shows the wondrous and beautiful skyline of Vancouver, British Columbia, at various hours of the day.
The Network is a pretty innovative concept record combining progressive metal and a cyberpunk reality. The main character has been immersed in research for many years into something called the Progressive Frequency Phenomenon. He has yet to find definitive proof that it exists, but based on his studies, he feels that it likely does and aims to gain control of it. Many years into his research, he discovers the inner skepticism progression, and this is where the journey of The Network begins.
Telling us more, the band states:
“The character of the concept record wants to reveal his discovery and return them both home. Unfortunately, after searching for a while, he realizes that his friend has been doomed to the network. He has been lost in the reminiscence of his past life, and has lost touch with reality. There is nothing that can save him, so the Protagonist does what he can to return back with questions never answered.”
If you are familiar with extreme bands like Svneatr, Thousand Arrows, and Ysgaroth, then you’ll already be acquainted with some of the members of Opus Arise. Their brand of metal is orchestral in nature, conjoining the world of classical and symphonic strings, with thrashing guitars and heavy metal rhythms. A lot of their inspiration for their music comes from a combination of classical symphony, films, and video game soundtracks. It is meant to be music that challenges the listener, is ambitious in tone and nature, and is intended to be immersive.
With nine band members, there are a ton of different influences within The Network, with the group making more use of orchestral instruments and string arrangements, as compared to their last album, 2016’s Revelation. Combining progressive metal, traditional metal, classical, orchestral, electronic, and video game music, it doesn’t get much bolder and more determined than Opus Arise on a record you won’t soon forget.
