UK’s reggae-metal pioneers Skindred are celebrating their 25th anniversary in style; with the release of a new album!
UK’s reggae-metal pioneers Skindred are celebrating their 25th anniversary in style; with the release of a new album! That’s right; the band has announced their 8th full-length release, Smile, which will drop in 2023 via new label Earache Records. The news is accompanied by the lead single and music video, “GIMME THAT BOOM.”
Frontman Benji Webbe comments on the new song, stating:
“It’s the ultimate ragga-rocking, dancehall-shaking, dutty-winding, head-banging, horn-waving creation… yes party people the ’Dreds dem back!”
He elaborates further”
“I was out shopping one day and I could hear someone building up asking me for a picture. The person didn’t care who I was with or what I was doing – they just wanted their picture. In this day and age, people want you and they expect to get you on tap, constantly giving you that ‘boom’ so they can get their Instagram Likes up. It’s important to remember that people can’t give you that ‘boom’ all the time. People think because they follow you on social media, they own you.”
Skindred has just been announced as next year’s headliners at both Dominion Festival in Durham on May 7th and Takedown Festival in Portsmouth on April 8th, 2023.

Dec 15th – OVO Hydro, Glasgow
Dec 16th – First Direct Arena, Leeds
Dec 17th – Cardiff International Arena
Dec 19th – Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham
