Rose Cora Perry & The Truth Untold Premiere Their Compelling “Not My Time” Music Video

In a time of great divide, it’s nice to be able to look towards uniting forces like Rose Cora Perry. Perry, along with her band The Truth Untold, recently released their new single “Not My Time,” and today comes the song’s official music video. A fun, eventful video clip, Perry combined many inspirations to write and compose this song. It’s, in one respect, a reflection on the times and circumstances in which we have been living, while in another, it’s a commentary on mental health and the challenges that arise at a societal level that are completely out of our control.

Explaining how she wrote the song and how she hopes it will connect with fans, Perry shares:

“‘Not My Time’ was written literally the day I recovered from a several week-long battle against Covid. While I can contest from personal experience that the virus is very real and most certainly can and does take a toll on people physically, being socially distanced, albeit ‘isolated’ from our loved ones and prevented from taking part in activities that fuel our passions and souls has had a pronounced impact on people psychologically.”

Perry continues, saying:

“Many, myself included, have been afflicted by depression, felt alienated and been left wondering if/when the end will ever be in sight. Further still, the divisiveness and hateful dialogue that has circulated between those ‘for’ vs ‘against,’ whether we’re talking lockdowns or vaccines, has only added fuel to the fire, separating people further when at a time like this, we need to break down barriers and come together, acknowledging we share the same plight.

“I’m hopeful my song will resonate with listeners and give them a sense of hope that they’re not alone if they’re feeling this way. It’s ‘Not [Their] Time’ to give up or ‘die’ metaphorically speaking. We are all stronger than we know.”

As a songwriter and performer, Perry cut her teeth in the indie scene, followed by her highly lauded role as the frontwoman for major label signees Anti-Hero. You learn a lot being in a major label act, and Perry has taken those lessons and applied them to The Truth Untold. It’s straight to the point, a collection of catchy and compelling songs which avoid being pretentious or grandiose.

There’s a power in Perry’s songwriting and vocal style, one that has been likened to a combination of Alanis Morissette and Norah Jones. With killer hooks and riffs for days, and the credibility and talent to carry it all, Rose Cora Perry & The Truth Untold have got it all together as they embark on the next phase of their career.
