Guided by artistic desire and a true lover of artistry in all of its forms, Robert Lundberg has become a highly regarded photographer and filmmaker lauded for his innovative and versatile documentaries covering the worlds of music, comedy, art, and film. After spending his early years in Massachusetts, Lundberg moved to New York City, where he more actively pursued a full-time career in art and film. Uniquely focused on seeking out the next big artistic challenge, Lundberg chose to pursue one of his most ambitious projects at the beginning of 2020 when he launched his new documentary series entitled Uncontaminated Sound – The Interviews.

Debuting in early 2020, the series follows comedians, musicians, fine artists, and actors with Lundberg’s primary goal to gain particular insight into their creative processes, which can only be thoroughly deciphered by truly going behind the scenes. With Uncontaminated Sound, Lundberg’s purpose is to offer an intimate look into all of the rarely seen or known “little things” that take place during interviews and other similar social and private interactions with artists and performers. Mainstream features are often heavily and unevenly edited, offering viewers only individual, preferred moments. In contrast, Lundberg is dedicated to delivering to you all of the real, raw, authentic moments that you would never otherwise have the opportunity to experience.

Here we are at the beginning of a new month and a new season, and Lundberg has been hard at work preparing his next edition of Uncontaminated Sound. This week he welcomes Brandon Stosuy, the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Creative Independent, an ad-free, Kickstarter-driven publication that acts as a resource of emotional and practical guidance directed at creatively minded people. Through interviews, guides, and essays, it intends to tap into the benefits, challenges and goals of living a creative life, as expressed through the viewpoint of writers, musicians, visual artists, designers, and many more.

In addition to his role leading The Creative Independent, Stosuy also is the co-founder of the Basilica SoundScape Festival in Hudson, New York, the co-founder of Zone 6 Artist Management and Gallery, and he has also acted as the musical curator for the Broad Museum in Los Angeles and the Museum of Modern Art Public School One (MoMA PS1) in New York City.

As an author, Stosuy has released a highly regarded self-help book titled Make Time for Creativity. He has also published two children’s books, Music Is… and We Are Music. Did we mention he also is a former Pitchfork Media editor?

Discussing his conversation with Stosuy, Lundberg says:

“Author, Curator, and Co-Founder of The Creative Independent, Brandon Stosuy and I kick off conversation #65 chatting about our affection for the neighbourhood of Greenpoint Brooklyn, the city in which I used to reside within an actual warehouse above a metal shop. Flowing past my memories of the harsh metal shards going into my lungs, I ask if Film Noir Cinema is still around, a seemingly drab looking façade until you enter, and realize the internal space is used for screening offbeat films. Transitioning into the drastic gentrification of the neighbourhood…

He continues:

“We then dive deep into his humble beginning growing up in rural America, creating zines by hand, putting on his first music festival, his current publications, culture, and future projects in the works, and of course, lots more. Please enjoy this wonderfully engaging conversation.”

Lundberg has more interviews to come with acclaimed artists who have agreed to be a part of Uncontaminated Sound – The Interviews. He has also continued to bring you his ongoing series Uncontaminated Sound, which takes a look behind the scenes to get a look at performers before they take the stage. The series has featured Macklemore’s Gemini Tour featuring Eric Nally (formerly of Foxy Shazam) and Xperience, the late Louie Anderson, Sinbad, Ron English, We Are Scientists, Rufus Wainwright, and more. Lundberg’s photography has been highlighted in publications such as Huffington Post, Paste Magazine and more.
