Papa Roach, Hollywood Undead and Bad Wolves Smash Up Toronto’s History [Photos]
Toronto’s newest live music venue, History, recently hosted California rockers Papa Roach, along with Hollywood Undead and Bad Wolves.
Last Saturday, March 19th, two years after the Covid lockdowns began, Toronto’s newest live music venue, History, hosted California rockers Papa Roach, along with Hollywood Undead and Bad Wolves. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect, being my first concert in two years, but I was pleasantly surprised.
What a great venue History is. It has loads of parking across the street, and most importantly… it has live music! There is a huge bar right by the stage, so you’re never far from the action. An overhead balcony gives you a completely different view, and the staff are all dressed in suits and ties, which gives it a very classy touch. Face coverings were still mandatory, so, like it or not, everyone was wearing masks.
Bad Wolves started off the night and got the crowd’s attention with their raw and raunchy style of alt-metal. For those new to the band, they do a really cool cover of The Cranberries hit song “Zombie.”
The next act was Los Angeles rap-rock hybrid Hollywood Undead. These guys caught my attention, along with everyone in the crowd. It seemed as though the audience were all jumping in the air and raising fists in unison. It was a very contagious beat. At one point in the show, the band asked the audience if anyone knew the lyrics to one of their songs; one eager fan got an impromptu audition and was pulled up on stage to sing along. I’m sure that made her evening.
The night’s headliner was California’s Papa Roach. With a career spanning almost thirty years, these guys know how to put on a show and captivate their audience. Frontman Jacoby Shaddix belted out tune after tune and sounded great. The packed venue was rocking, and it seemed like everyone was just finally out and having a great time again.
