Fire From The Gods Light Up Louisville, KY’s Diamond Pub & Billiards [Photos & Show Review]

The Austin, Texas quintet is rocking crowds large and small this fall, and how sweet it is!

Fire From The Gods (FFTG) are taking every opportunity to perform for their fans this September. The band is currently opening for the Korn and Staind co-headlining amphitheatre tour. On their off nights, they are making three stops to headline some club shows. First up was Louisville, Kentucky at Diamond Pub & Billiards. Supporting the show was a diverse lineup of regional acts, including Foxbat (metalcore, post-hardcore), Yung Mosh (trap metal), and Signal The Revolution (hard rock).

After the 2019 release of their sophomore album, American Sun, FFTG released an EP of stripped-down hits from the record titled American Sun Reimagined that was released earlier this summer. To celebrate the return of touring, the band released a new version of “Victory,” featuring Matt B. of From Ashes To New.

“These last two years have been tough on so many. I can talk until I’m blue in the face about how much we missed out on not being able to tour. We want to give American Sun a proper send off,” vocalist AJ Channer explained in a statement.

In reference to the music video, drummer Richie Wicander said, “The new visual speaks to one of the biggest goals we have with making music; to speak to the human experience and call for connection.”

A good crowd developed for the show in Louisville for a Saturday night. This was a true all-ages show with many young fans in attendance. Seeing the diversity in the crowd ultimately speaks to FFTG’s positive and uniting messaging in their music. The energy rose throughout the night, starting with Foxbat, even with the bassist injuring his face with his bass during the performance. Yung Mosh from Cincinnati, formerly known as The World I Knew, wound the crowd up even more with their mix of trap beats and breakdowns. Members of FFTG also made a couple of guest appearances, Richie came on as an impromptu hype man, while AJ spit a verse. Veteran local favourite Signal The Revolution primed the crowd for the headliner with their blend of American hard rock and metal.

Fire From the Gods jammed out a twelve-song set with an encore. Immediately hitting fans with “The Voiceless,” the high impact opener from the re-release of their first album, Narrative. FFTG’s message resonates with so many. This is evident as they performed cuts from the latest album. From overcoming adversity to fighting the system, the lyrical content and the duality of soulful melodies combined with the impact of the heaviness proves the band understands the assignment. The added dimension of hip-hop and reggae influences elevates the tone to another level. The band also tipped their hat to one of their influences with a throwback cover of Rage Against The Machine’s 1999 hit, “Guerilla Radio.”

Fire From The Gods puts on a spirited show encouraging togetherness and unity and they look like they are having a ton of fun while doing it. Catch them on the remaining dates of their run with Korn and Staind or at this year’s Welcome To Rockville Festival.
