Much revered Brit rockers Dead Reynolds have just dropped their brand new single and video, “Lines”. The track is lifted from the band’s forthcoming sophomore EP, Frontier, which arrives on June 19, 2020. With this in mind, we asked the guys to give us their top six tracks that have helped to define their sound.

1. Funeral For A Friend – “Roses for the Dead”
– We are all massive FFAF fans and back in the early/mid 2000s these guys really lead the way in alt-rock/metalcore. This song has it all from the drive, energy, guitar riff, and the hook. So much so it still sits with us now so many years later. We love the vibe and how it builds. Sentimental lyrics that mean so much to us. Scream your heart out – and we do.

2. Alter Bridge – “Ghost of Days Gone By”

Alter Bridge are awesome in any setting, live, studio, acoustic. With such an amazing vocalist and 2 top guitarists. We love all their stuff but this just has such a big hook, unexpected metal breakdown and then the ability to get you singing along. Top tune!

3. Feeder – “Pushing the Senses”
Feeder – what can we say? We all grew up with these guys as an indie rock radio band and the singalong anthems like “Buck Rogers” and “Just a Day”. “Pushing the Senses” starts really tame and explodes into an anthem, driving, pulsing. Bridges the gap between indie and rock. great vibes. Supported these guys in previous bands – great live.

4. Fightstar – “Paint Your Target”
Some of us were at the first-ever Fighstar show and we were blown away with the material being almost catchy radio singalong metal. Love all their stuff but particularly the first album. This song is a statement from the 4th bar! Smashes you in the face and then drops away but builds again into a huge chorus singalong!

5. Manic Street Preachers – “Motorcycle Emptiness”
– The Manics!! The most underrated UK band and James Dean Bradfield – what a singer and guitarist. Grew up on the MSP and in the early and mid-90s when we were at school these guys offered the alternative to cheesy Brit Pop. This track has a hook from the first note and gets you involved with the riff, catchy chorus, and vocals. Builds really well. Brilliant structure.

6. I Prevail – “Hurricane”
– The only current song we have chosen. Not many current bands tick our boxes but I Prevail do. Love the use of programming, synths, and tech. Awesome production with the drums sounding huge and massive chorus. The breakdown is to die for. Catchy and a real sentiment behind the vocals.

Dead Reynolds Frontiers EP artwork

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
