It’s Just “Another Day” in the Rising Career of Rock Guitarist DEREK DAY [Video Premiere]
As bright as “day” comes the exclusive premiere of the brand new music video from exciting rock artist Derek Day. Check out his latest single “Another Day” now!
As bright as “day” comes the brand new music video from the exciting rock artist Derek Day for his single “Another Day.” Day is a talented young guitarist who has already earned the respect of not only his peers, but the men he has looked up to since he learned guitar at a young age. Day has already been welcomed on stage by the likes of Steve Vai, Moby, Ted Nugent, Slash and Living Colour which only adds to the street cred he’s been hard at work earning on his own. The LA native’s new single and video for “Another Day” begins with a classic hummable riff that quickly transitions into a screeching lead, all building towards Day’s intense and emotional chorus. There are raw and subtle hints of funk that speak to Day’s varied influences while being exposed to music from a young age.
Commenting on “Another Day,” Day speaks to the presence of the song as one of the defining moments in his still-to-grow catalogue of releases and divulges some of the lyrical themes behind the track. “It’s almost like my theme song because it plays with the name Derek Day. Lyrically, it’s about being wrongfully criticized, judged, or reviewed. No one can describe anyone in a few sentences, let alone fully understand someone that way. Every day is a different day, and we’re always changing and moving forward.”
Just “Another Day”? No… a special day! Check out the brand new music video here:
It wasn’t difficult for Day to begin loving music from a very young age, as he was constantly surrounded by it from a young age. Growing up as a first-generation American as the son of a Honduran mother and Polish father, Day’s mother would freely play her Bee Gees and Donna Summer disco records which would be happily countered by his father’s collection of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Cream, and The Beatles. Having to share a bedroom with three other brothers, the guitar became Day’s outlet and escape from the close confines of his living quarters. Practicing as much as he possibly could, Day began to emerge and transition into a full-fledged practicing musician intent on making a songwriting career out of it.
2017 was a defining year for Day, as he received an invitation to open Steve Vai’s 25th anniversary Passion & Warfare Tour before going on to canvas the country with Living Colour and Ted Nugent. He has since gone on to tour with George Lynch, Lynch Mob, and Steel Panther while continuing to impress with the 2018 release of his “Social Kitten” single. Later that year, he also joined Los Angeles rock band Classless Act on lead vocals as openers for Slash featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators. Would it really be possible to receive any more endorsements than this? With a bright future ahead, Derek Day is undoubtedly destined to become one of the most talked-about guitarists and musicians of 2020.
