Geordie Songwriter SAM FENDER Enjoys a Rowdy Night at Leeds O2 Academy [Photos & Show Review]
The rise over the last twelve months have been meteoric for Geordie songwriter Sam Fender so this highly anticipated return to Leeds saw the Academy packed to the rafters. Check out the photos here.

2020 will be a massive year for Sam Fender. The Geordie singer-songwriter not only heads out on an arena tour of his own, but he is also due to support rock superstars The Killers on their own stadium tour of the UK. Before all of that, though, the musician rounds out 2019 with his own headline tour after a year that has seen him release his critically-acclaimed Hypersonic Missiles album and perform at pretty much every festival.
As was the case the last time Fender performed in this venue, the room is packed when he takes to the stage. Smirking, Fender imitates the “Yorkshire! Yorkshire!” chant that rings around the room before joking that the mosh pit that had started was good but “Glasgow was better the other night.” As for his songs, they hit home and they hit home hard. Tunes like “Millennial” and “Hypersonic Missiles” are accompanied by striking visuals while “Dead Boys” has an emotional edge to it.
The night finishes with a couple of covers including Oasis’ favourite “Morning Glory” and you just know that the few thousand fans packed into Leeds O2 Academy are already counting the days until the singer-songwriter returns to the city next April.
This clip of Sam performing “The Borders” shows why he is going to be a massive star in 2020:
