Sharing a mutual love of playing powerful heavy music inspired by the likes of Slayer, Pantera, Pitchshifter and Architects, State Of Deceit may still be in their infancy having only formed at the end of 2018 but, with line-up issues ironed-out, the metal wrecking crew are ready to take their devastating sound out to the national metal scene.

What better place to start than with our exclusive premiere of their new track …. :

Armed with their new EP, Retribution, which was recorded at Long Wave Studios with esteemed producer Romesh Dodangoda at the helm, the release spits out a fury of thrash, groove and metalcore, wrapped around anthemic hooks and peppered with lyrical themes such as politics and mental health.

Guitarist Jon Russell remarks about the EP: “Retribution encapsulates the sound and feel I’ve been striving for, the soaring and venomous vocals, the headbanging grooves from the rhythm section, all captured crisply by Long Wave Studios. This is the way I think metal should be, forget all the trends, this record is our legacy, that which can never be taken away from us.”

As for taking their brutality out on the road, the band told us: “We are going to be announcing a run of UK shows over the coming month or so.”

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
