The revolutionary rock/hip-hop supergroup Prophets of Rage are back with yet another new track and music video, this one called “Pop Goes The Weapon.” The enormous talents of Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, Chuck D, B-Real, and DJ Lord have once again joined forces to create another call to action; this one led by the menacing lyrics and snarling vocals of B-Real. The song focuses on the consequences of the never-ending gun violence epidemic that has been an unfortunate reality of American culture for decades now.

The music video lists all of the mass shootings that have occurred in 2019 alone, including the date, location, and a number of those killed and injured, along with various newspaper headlines that have reported on the story. The video is intermixed with graphic shots of those who have been victims of these massacres and their visibly shaken family members and friends. It ends by listing the names of those lost in the recent shootings in Gilroy, California, El Paso, Texas, Dayton, Ohio and Odessa, Texas that have all happened within the last month.

Watch the gripping new music video for “Pop Goes The Weapon:”

“‘Pop Goes The Weapon’ reflects the ongoing gun violence happening in America,” stated B Real. “Guns are both the subject of religious worship AND huge profits in the United States,” added Tom Morello. “Combined with emboldened white nationalism the recent epidemic of massacres is little surprise. ‘Pop Goes The Weapon’ channels our ‘thoughts & prayers’ through Marshall stacks and microphones.”
