Silicon Valley’s New Duo Takes Us “Westside”

Published

on

Pink Roses – the unsuspecting duo of tech entrepreneurs Nate Tepper and Dave Fontenot – have challenged the status quo with their new single “Westside”. Self described as “chill emotional dream pop”, it is easy to compare the duo to superstar groups like that of LANY and 1975. Supposedly having written over 100 songs together in their San Francisco bedroom, “Westside” is only the second single from Pink Roses. Their first single “Hollywood” took off with over 60,000 streams in its first month of release. 80’s synths, elegant harmonies, and its overall laid-back vibe make it an easy listen and a definite add to our playlists. “Westside” is no different and is what the duo describes as “dream pop driven by emotion, 80s synth, and modern pop melodie”.

“Take me to the westside… I wanna take a long drive. Won’t sleep until the sun rise, I wanna stay up all night with you.”

Pink Roses first catches listeners with their dream-pop sound and 80’s vibe. However, the lyrical genius of this duo is what kept us hitting “repeat” on this song. “I will show you where we used to go, hearts beat heavy in the city where we all grew” is just one example of the catchy lyricism that flows throughout the track. Creating a perfect balance to the easy-going tempo and modern stylings with lyrics that tell a story, Pink Roses are flexing their creative muscles with soft, dreamy vocals and harmonies. “Westside” is sonically familiar, and easily fits into what would be considered mainstream pop of today.
With their successful entrepreneurial backgrounds in music and tech Dave and Nate have a unique approach to Pink Roses. Along with a creative artistic vision, brand, and aesthetic for Pink Roses, they take their startup experience and apply it to their music careers. Now with connections in the industry and early traction they are able to self-fund and self-manage Pink Roses with plans of one day playing stadiums.
