ACADEMY KILLER “Looks To Kill” Pop-Punk Wannabes with Their Sophomore Album ‘Lost In Make Believe’ [Video Premiere]
Hamilton, Ontario’s Academy Killer have confirmed a September 20th release of their seven-song, sophomore album Lost In Make Believe, plus are today debuting the new single and video, “Looks To Kill.”
Composed of singer and guitarist Kevin Talbot, lead guitarist Lucas Goldson, bassist Omar Kurd, and drummer Nathaniel Schuster, Hamilton, Ontario rock quartet Academy Killer build upon a solid pop-punk base to ensure fans are both rocking and bopping all day long; as evidenced by their debut EP, 2016’s six-song Late to the Party. Fast forward a few years and, after much hard work and hours invested, the crew have returned with their sophomore recording. Yes, that’s correct, a new album is coming! Titled Lost In Make Believe, the seven-song set is scheduled for a September 20th release with the lead single “The Distance” out now (head below to check the video).
Well, today the good news continues as we’ve teamed with the guys to debut their second new single and video, “Looks To Kill.” While it’s officially available on all major DSPs as of Friday, August 23rd, you can gobble up the new tune as of right now! Speaking of the new single, Kevin Talbot notes, “‘Looks to Kill’ is the song that should serve as a wakeup call to anyone who doesn’t want to listen to their friends when they’re told their relationship is toxic. Listen to your friends or else you’ll end up like me, an idiot, writing songs about someone who hurt you.”
Lucas Goldson adds, “Definitely a song for the old school pop-punk fans! There’s a lot of bounce in this one.”
Judging by their talent and quality music, this band aims to go “The Distance:”
The group’s sound is an amalgamation of emo, modern pop, ’90s rock and much more; end of the day, it’s damn catchy stuff that has been roping in new fans since day one. Academy Killer’s local following continues to bloom and appearances at Burlington’s Sound of Music, Hamilton’s Supercrawl. and Toronto’s Canadian Music Week hasn’t hurt. Long story short, you’re about to be hearing a lot more from and about Academy Killer.
