Welcome to the Birmingham, the most populous city in Alabama, which has become a hub of all things arts and culture and also happens to be the home of KinZie, a formidable indie rock/punk trio that’s as quirky as it is catchy. With the trio’s debut album Dead Eyes out everywhere as of Friday, July 19th, now’s the time to get acquainted with this budding band (if you haven’t already) because they’re destined to quickly become well-known outside of The Yellowhammer State.

Dead Eyes will no doubt find its way onto various streaming/digital platforms, but, for now, KinZie’s music and physical pre-orders can be placed on Bandcamp here. Dinosaur Jr., Bloc Party, and Screaming Females are just some of the bands that come to mind when trying to pinpoint KinZie’s sound so, if you’re into any of those groups, then you’re likely going to be down with this one.

Speaking of their debut album, vocalist Phillip Ori said, “Since this was our first debut album, we really wanted it to be as memorable as possibly and relatable while avoiding the usual topics of love or everyday surroundings. Our previous EP was great, but we wanted to capture the live energy as much as possibly. The biggest change is being able to record all at once which makes for a more honest recording in our opinions. Sonically, it’s nice to capture some wild tones in a real studio environment instead our previous DIY approach. I think the big takeaway is to let people know their feelings matter.”

Open your Dead Eyes made wide and look below for KinZie’s album premiere!

Dead Eyes follows 2016’s four-track Young Vagabonds EP and sees the guys take their musicality to a whole new level. Lyrics, instrumentation, production, song structure, it’s all be amped up and finds the gents—Phillip Ori, Thomas M. Warren, and Parker Chambliss—making use of a vast range of influences, from artists to genres to instruments to emotions.
