UK Rockers SWEET CRISIS Cast an Unavoidable Spell with Their “Black Magic” [Video Premiere]
Soulful UK rock ‘n’ rollers, Sweet Crisis are dropping their infectious new single, “Black Magic,” on June 21st and today we’re debuting the song’s slick new music video.

From the UK city of Cambridge, Sweet Crisis are a classic rock-inspired six-piece that keep their soulful, rootsy rock honest, anthemic, and fun – like all rock ‘n’ roll should be. Their newest single, “Black Magic” (pre-order on Apple Music here), drops June 21st alongside the slick music video that you can now check out above!
These guys are a rollicking good time, with earworm melodies that can make even the most self-conscious of audiences get moving, and their newest track is no exception. “Black Magic” is a bluesy rock outing with powerhouse vocals supporting vintage guitar riffs that all combine to scream big-stage mega hit; it’s an infectious tune with the makings of a real banger.
Dig it? Check out an older tune called “Treading in Deep Water”.
On the genesis of Sweet Crisis and “Black Magic,” frontman Leo Robarts shared the following:
“Piers and I started jamming, formed a new band – and then headed out on tour to Switzerland. We spent the days writing new material and getting high, and then played for hours in small clubs every night trying out the songs on a different crowd. We arrived back in UK at 10am Monday morning, hit the studio by lunchtime and by midnight we’d recorded 5 new tracks. We were fortunate to get Don Airey (Deep Purple/Whitesnake) to come in and lay down some Hammond Organ, and having Sarah Brown (Pink Floyd/Roxy Music) record some spine-tingling backing vocals was the cherry on the top!
The starting point was definitely a cheeky nod to Hendrix, and we wanted to tip our hat to the blues but add our own modern spin. We’ve been at this since we were kids and it’s like we’ve come full circle, back to our roots. It feels good to be making a sound that comes naturally and not to be searching. Our time is now!”
Sweet Crisis will hit the stage at Ramblin’ Man Festival on Sunday, July 21st. Go and see them live!
