Tom Petty Re-Imagined… Evan Castle & The Southern Tier

Transporting us back to the 70’s genre of classic rock, Evan Castle & The Southern Tier announce their arrival on the music scene with the single “Passengers”. An Americana-rock jam in the vein of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, “Passengers” is full of the seductive guitar licks, simple yet grungy vocals, and loud percussive elements that we love from the vintage classic rock scene. Evan Castle sat down to give us a glimpse into his songwriting and inspiration…. see what he had to say below.
What inspired the song “Passengers”?
Passengers was inspired by some personal relationships, and some professional that were going through periods of misunderstanding.
What’s your favorite lyrical line in “Passengers”?
Favorite line would be the bit in the chorus, ” The Distance between our frequency, were Passengers through the night” –  Really I’m describing how far away our understandings are from one another.  Passengers through the night is kind of a reference to ‘passing like ships in the night’… being so close and passing one another but not seeing eye to eye.
How would you describe your musical sound to someone who has never heard it before?
It’s very vintage. Our sound is clearly us trying to understand what was great about certain pieces of music in the past, and our attempt to bring that greatest into the current context of music.
Who are your musical influences?
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Ryan Adams
What can fans expect next?
We have a single ready for June and will be announcing that soon!  More to come before the summer is over as well!
