LET THEM ROAR Creating Music To Inspire Change

Published

Creating music that inspires change is not an easy feat, but Colorado band LET THEM ROAR is giving it a go with their new single and video “I See My Light”. Released June 21, 2019, “I See My Light” is more than a simple music release for the Colorado folk band – it is a fundraiser for the immigrant aid organization ‘The People’s Resolution’ and its founders.
Inspired by an increase in attacks on immigrants and people of color, LET THEM ROAR aimed to be the ones to make a difference. The group became aware of The People’s Resolution as they befriended the women who’ve taken Sanctuary in Colorado – Sandra Lopez, Rosa Sabido, Ingrid Encalada Latorre, Araceli Velazquez, and Jeanette Vizguerra. These women sought physical refuge in places of worship (“sanctuary”) to keep their families from being separated by deportation, and are leading a movement for a just and humane immigration system.
“I See My Light” is essentially a mantra, repeating the words “I see my light shining on down” throughout the majority of the song as LET THEM ROAR delivers a punchy folk tune of bravery. Complemented by layered female vocals over the strong guitar rhythm, “I See My Light” is an anthem for those in Sanctuary.
LET THEM ROAR set a goal of raising $40,000 to donate to these leaders through the proceeds from the sale of “I See My Light.” To join LET THEM ROAR in supporting these leaders to further justice for immigrants head over to www.letthemroar.com to purchase, learn more about these women’s stories, and for additional actions you can take for immigrant rights.
