DEICIDE, ORIGIN, JUNGLE ROT and THE ABSENCE Get Satanically Sweaty at Mesa, AZ’s Club Red [Photos & Show Review]
Florida death metal icons, Deicide, along with Origin, Jungle Rot and The Absence, tore through Club Red in Mesa, Arizona with a mix of brutality and high energy.

Florida death metal icons, Deicide have embarked on a North American tour to further promote their 2018 release, Overtures of Blasphemy. There is no shortage of brutality on this trek with support from Origin, Jungle Rot and The Absence. They drew a large crowd for a Tuesday night on May 14th at Club Red in Mesa, Arizona.
Starting off the show was Florida melodic death metal mavens, The Absence. There is no absence of chemistry when these guys take the stage. They are a group of talented guys that seem to really have fun together. When The Absence isn’t touring, you might see members playing in other bands you may have heard of, such as Sanctuary, Soilwork, Soulfly, and Venom Inc. Check out their latest album, A Gift for the Obsessed on M-Theory Audio.
Next up was a loud and blistering set from Jungle Rot, the death metallers from Wisconsin. These guys have been around for 25 years and show no signs of slowing down. They’re promoting their self-titled album, released last year through Victory Records.
“Defying the Sacred” is one of the big tunes off of Deicide’s latest album Overtures of Blasphemy.
Third on the bill was Kansas technical death metal titans, Origin. They are just straight up brutal: high energy, blast beauty and brutal. Their latest album Abiogenesis: A Coming Into Existance was just released on May 3rd on Agonia Records.
To cap off an evening of ferocity, Deicide took the stage. The crowd fervently moshed and headbanged with an energy rarely seen on a Tuesday night. Deicide’s sound was solid and satanic. There are still plenty of dates left in this tour, so check it out.
