“So Kind” by The Mooks – Review
A catchy, rock-inspired, upbeat song from the first few seconds of the drum intro – “So Kind” is the newest single from the Toronto based trio, The Mooks. The single comes off their forthcoming EP, I Hope That You Feel The Same, due later this year. The album showcases the band’s journey into new territories of sound and concept. Displaying their quintessential combination of jangly power pop sound and spirited melodies, the lead single “So Kind” is only a tease to what is coming from the timeless indie pop group. It is relatively easy to see influences of rhythm and blues and early indie-rock in the single that is largely reminiscent of the hit 80’s single “Walking On Sunshine”. Maybe the male version of that iconic song, “So Kind” nonetheless carries a strong drum beat, dynamic vocals, and an energy that undeniably brings the 80’s out in all of us. Rock on!
