We’ve got a good one for all you weirdo-rock lovers out there, you know, fans of Les Claypool, Primus or funkier Faith No More. Taking bits and pieces of noise, art rock, pop and punk, New York’s Yucca King blur genre lines and produce their own, in their words, “indie rock with a penchant for the pretty, the petty, and the grotesque.” Whatever you opt to call their music though, it’s for sure quirky, fresh and fun. Point in case, the new single “Panic Attack #2” taken from the band’s upcoming sophomore album, Popcorn, but also House Fire.

Due out on Friday, we’re stoked to offer an exclusive first listen to “Panic Attack #2”, the lead single and first taste of Yucca King’s new material. Speaking of the tune, the group noted “Over the course of our songs we have drifted farther away from pop music and into weirder and more interesting styles. We think this song best represents our individual character as musicians.” Popcorn, but also House Fire is due out on April 26th so, if you dig what you hear (or you’re already one of the band’s fans) you can pre-order the album here.

Grab your puffer before you hit play, you’re about to have “Panic Attack #2”!

Commenting further on the new music, vocalist Greg Arent, said: “When I was in my early days of sobriety I struggled with crippling panic attacks. Every time I had to go out and be social without booze I would have a total meltdown. I always wanted to write a song about that feeling and the music in this song seemed to fit; with the dirty bass, screaming guitar and herky-jerky drumbeat. We want the song to actually make people feel anxious.”
