Liverpool alt-metal band Death Blooms have just released their new EP, You Are Filth, so we sat down with them to talk about the exciting heavy music scene in Liverpool.
Before we dig into their scene, check out their recent video, it’s absolute “Filth”:
1. Favourite Death Blooms gig in Liverpool
– We opened for Skindred and Raging Speedhorn at the O2 Academy in 2017. It was our first Liverpool show and our second show ever. It was just an amazing feeling to be playing such a massive venue that we’ve been to so many times and seeing so many people get down early for us too!
2. Favourite venue to play in Liverpool
– Death Blooms have only played two venues in Liverpool, so I think I’m going to go with a bit of an old-school answer and say The Zanzibar. There’s just something special about that venue, when it’s packed out and the mood is right, it’s just perfect. Some of the best nights we’ve ever had have been in that place.
3. Favourite Liverpool band
– Fuck! This is so difficult because there’s some really great bands coming out of Liverpool at the moment. I’m going to do with God Complex though. They just keep getting better and better!
Continuing the theme, here’s Death Bloom’s favourite Liverpool band God Complex who like “Breeding Filth”:
4. Favourite album by a Liverpool band
– Loathe‘s album – The Cold Sun. Since that album was released, there’s been a lot of things changing in Liverpool. The scene is stronger than ever and it’s encouraged a lot of people to get off their arses and join bands. It’s genuinely an exciting time around the city to see this buzz of people interested in heavy music again.
5. Favourite Liverpool record store
– Probe. It’s the place to get everything. To be fair, Jacaranda Records is really trying to give it a push, but Probe is basically the “Championship Vinyl” of Liverpool. For more information on Probe Records, you can visit their website.
6. Favourite story from a night out in Liverpool.
– Loads of funny things happen in Liverpool all the time. Everyone should come here and experience them. Get to Liverpool now!
