Chicago’s HIGH PRIEST Deliver a Deliciously Doomy “Offering” with Their Latest Single [Song Premiere]
Due on April 19th via Magnetic Eye Records, Chicago doom/stoner quartet, High Priest have one hell of an end-of-week “Offering” with the debut of their new song and final single off their forthcoming four-track EP, Sanctum.
Chicago, Illinois-based quartet, High Priest have one hell of an end-of-week “Offering” with the debut of their new song and second single off their forthcoming four-track EP, Sanctum. Due out on April 19th, both digitally and in a must-have vinyl version, through Magnetic Eye Records, eager fans may sink their teeth into some pre-order action via Bandcamp here.
Following the lead single “Descent,” which you can also stream below, “Offering” features some ghostly, hooky melodies and, overall, is an absolute crusher of a song which showcases the group’s ability to blend doom/stoner with classic metal elements that’s seem comparisons drawn to an illegitimate Alice In Chains love child. Commenting on the second single, the only other tune to be released before April 19th, singer and bassist Justin Pence said, “The lyrics of ‘Offering’ are about submerging into the concept of suffering. Can you surrender to it and find a better reality through a different frame of mind? It’s about the search for your inner light to try and heal.”
With this humble sonic “Offering” we invite you to kick of your weekend!
High Priest’s formation was as recent as 2016, however, the members (guitarist Pete Grossmann, guitarist John Regan, bassist and vocalist Justin Pence, and drummer Dan Polak) have both known each other and played in various other acts for much longer. Produced, engineered and mixed at Bricktop Recording studio, Sanctum is loaded with riffs, purpose, and intent, tackling themes ranging from “overcoming internal darkness” to personal growth via pain.
Show Dates:
04/20 – Burlington Bar – Chicago, IL (High Priest Record Release)
05/31 – Reggies Rock Club – Chicago, IL (Chicago Doomed and Stoned Festival 2019)
And… before you descend into your weekend, stream the album’s lead single “Descent.”
The Sanctum EP drops on April 19th, 2019, via Magnetic Eye Records on vinyl.
