Some bands have a history then there is Anthony Kaoteon, a man born in war torn Beirut and scarred by death, corruption and a multitude of atrocities supported by radical ideologies.

Having chosen not to accept the status quo, instead shaping his own future, Anthony explains: “I am grateful for what life offered me so far and I treat my time with respect as I know how limited my time is”, says Anthony. “I know that I am of no importance and everything is insignificant, and that gives me the greatest relief. Allowing me to celebrate life with all its offerings until the day I am put down by a bullet or disease”.

His current project, Death Tribe, are set to release their debut album, Beyond Pain and Pleasure, later this month and you can check out our exclusive premiere of the title track.

Anthony had this to say about the song: “”Beyond Pain and Pleasure” is truly a title that explains life at its best. Composed during periods of conflict in Lebanon and assembled in Dubai with many musicians that left their own countries for a better future – that is why the album title is Beyond Pain and Pleasure: A Desert Experiment. This is not an album – this is a metal souvenir of all those who died – those who fought for their right – those who did not accept to fall on their knees and kept their head held high.”

Death Tribe’s debut album was composed over many years and that is why it covers multiple metal genres from black metal to heavy metal and everything in between. In the studio the band consisted of Kaoteon, Linus Klausenitzer (Obscura, Alkaloid, Kaoteon) on Bass and Mattias Landes (Dark Fortress, ex-ReVamp) on Drums. However, wanting to share the experiences of his brethren currently avoiding persecution, the album also features vocalists from various Middle Eastern countries including Walid Wolflust (Kaoteon), Serge the Slave (Aramaic), Adnan Mryhij (Svengali), Youmni Abou el Zahab (Ascendant) and JM Elias (Damage Rite, Svengali).

Beyond Pain and Pleasure may be pre-ordered right here.

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
