Long Beach, California’s three-piece rock group, The Captain’s Son will have you feeling good with the premiere of their new “Want You So Much More” music video, the song for which is lifted from their new album, the Busty Crustacean EP released on January 18th. (Take a second to grab the album and single via the band’s Bandcamp page here.) We’ve all felt those feelings, you know the ones, about that young love you maybe let slip through your hands? The Captain’s Son can certainly relate…

Commenting on the song, the guys said, “‘Want You So Much More’ was written about a girl that you didn’t show enough of your love to. I was listening to a lot of Faine Jade at the time and really wanted to have our ‘60s surf/pop moment fulfilled in a song. The opening riff sounds Tarantino-style. We added the building harmonies at the end almost last minute during because we love that. The video is our three alter egos chasing each other, the good, the bad (chasing the good) and then the band (us). So here it is, having fun a fun day with it, ‘Want You So Much More’ and your boys.”

The Captain’s Son stand out as being unique for their different musical styles, combining indie surf pop, beautiful layered harmonies and garage rock. The group is composed of Paige Byrd, Jarred Hayden and William Hopkins and, together, they bring a unique ability to blend the warm guitar melodies and laid-back harmonized vocals that is reminiscent of early California surf pop acts.

Their sound is mostly inspired by classic ‘60s pop rock and indie artists, but they’ve succeeded in bringing their own flavor to a well-known style. Make sure to catch them at their next show on February 27th at the California State Fullerton Outdoor Festival at noon sharp.
