Alternative/electro/rock is a difficult combination of genres to get right, but SINE does just that with our premiere of their debut album INSOMNIÆ. band moniker aside, SINE is also the stage name for Rona Rougeheart, a well-accomplished drummer and singer who, despite her experience sitting behind the drum kit, was intent on developing her own music with the goal of creating her own strong and sexy, female-fronted project.

Looking to artists such as Nine Inch Nails, Recoil and Curve, Rougeheart’s resulting sonic concoction combines dance beats with industrial rock and booming bass, synths and guitars. SINE’s music is extremely textured with a darkness and sexiness that is very unique to Rougeheart’s talents and musical interests.

INSOMNIÆ, can be purchased right here, was recorded in Austin, Texas with Charles Godfrey of Scary American Studio and includes a guest appearance from Curse Mackey (Pigface, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, and Evil Mothers) on the song “Drugs.”

Commenting on the new album, vocalist and composer Rona Rogueheart noted, “I wanted our debut album to be dark, sexy and stylish, with sophisticated, edgy lyrical content. The music is driven by electronics and beats. It’s natural for me, being a drummer and a fan of electronic music. Lyrically, the songs are about the dark corners of life and situations we encounter. It’s about love, sex, betrayal, temptation, degradation, lust, fiendish desire, destruction, drugs – real life. The songs are from a strong, unwavering stance, exposing the emotional mazes we navigate.”

We know, we know. Enough talk, more music. Here it is, INSOMNIÆ in all of its glory!
