We knew you were “longing” for some new music from The Longing so we’ve delivered with the premiere of the band’s new holiday-themed song and music video for “Silent, Holy Night”. With the track due out on December 7th, you can pre-order it right here. If you already guessed that this song is a mashup of the holiday classics “Silent Night” and “Oh Holy Night”, then you would be correct, as the Los Angels symphonic metal group unwrap Christmas with their well-established candid honesty.

Lead singer Laura Bradley masterfully guides you through this new Christmas classic with her positively angelic vocals, but the song is about much more than just holiday spirit. Fans of the band will already know that The Longing have a knack for weaving deeper meaning throughout their songwriting and “Silent, Holy Night” is no exception as it attempts to depict the angst that is currently being forced upon us throughout the world. The turbulence of the frantic instrumentation over Bradley’s gentle voice help in getting this point across.

You have yet to watch this video? Oh “Come on”!

With an exclusive comment on the new song and video, lead vocalist and founding member Laura Bradley was in touch with the following:

“Merry Christmas PureGrainAudio. You’ve shown us such amazing support over the past year that we wanted to thank you with the world premiere of our new Christmas single ‘Silent Holy Night’. We’ve decided to create a traditional fusion of two classic festive songs, ‘Silent Night’ and ‘Oh Holy Night’, delivered in true prog style from The Longing. From the moment we began recording this track I totally submerged myself into the lyrics, they seemed to perfectly mirror the current global situation that we’re in; and our underlying need for hope and peace. It’s our gift to you this Christmas.”
