Fresh from touring Europe supporting the mighty Slayer, thrash metal icons Anthrax are going to be turning Bloodstock Open Air 2019 into a “Madhouse” as they join the bill as special guests on the Saturday. The full round of new additions joining the likes of Cradle Of Filth, Code Orange, Dee Snider and headliners Sabaton and The Scorpions, reads as follows:
Saturday’s special guest on the Ronnie James Dio main stage will be thrash titans, Anthrax who are due to start work on a new studio album in 2019. Those of you lucky enough to see them on their recent UK dates will testify that the band are on fire so this is sure to be a highlight of the weekend especially if we get treated to some new material into the bargain!
2 Dimmu Borgir
Next up is a UK exclusive for Bloodstock as Norwegian black metal titans Dimmu Borgir return to Catton Park. Although their last visit to Bloodstock was beset with technical problems, their icy Nordic fury is a welcome addition to the Bloodstock bill where the band will appear as special guests on the Sunday night.
3 Thy Art Is Murder
Australian deathcore titans Thy Art Is Murder will be bringing a slice of heaviness to Catton Park on the Saturday afternoon. Quite frankly, we don’t think Bloodstock will know what has hit it when CJ and Co smash their way through the Bloodstock set.
Fresh from touring with Between The Buried and Me homegrown boys Tesseract will be bringing their blend of djent and progressive metal to Catton Park on Friday.
Bloodstock will take place at Catton Park, Derbyshire on 8th-11th August 2019. Get info on ticket packages and additional information over at www.bloodstock.uk.com.

The Electric Highway Festival is excited to announce the final lineup for the 2024 edition of the festival, which will be held in Calgary, AB, on April 4, 5, and 6 at Dickens (1000 9 Ave SW). This is the biggest festival lineup yet, with 23 bands playing over three days.
Canadian Juno Award-winning Vancouver band Anciients will headline the whole festival. They will be joined by various Western Canadian bands, including Dead Quiet, Empress, Flashback, Buffalo Bud Buster, and more. Newly added to the bill are returning bands La Chinga, Hombre, and Set & Stoned, along with festival newcomers Prisoner, Passing Pluto, and Mors Sanctorum.
The final festival poster is now available. The festival artwork was created by Saskatchewan tattoo artist Roman Corkery (check him out). Besides being a fantastic tattoo artist, Roman is also a talented multi-media artist. The Festival thought it was time to have a full-on space theme. With Roman’s love of creating space-themed art, he was the perfect artist to tackle the idea, and the result was outstanding.
All festival tickets and passes are now available at presale pricing, including 2-day passes and single-day tickets. 2024 Festival t-shirts are now available for presale as well. Order now to save some money, and be sure to get the size you want. The Electric Highway Festival hosts various genres that range from Desert Rock, Stoner Metal, Doom, Sludge, Trippy Psychedelic, Surf Rock, Acid Rock, Noise Rock, Fuzz Rock, Space Rock, Blues Rock, Heavy Psych, Heavy Blues, Southern Rock, Fuzzy Punk, Sludgy Hardcore bands and variations of any of the previously mentioned styles.
The 2023 edition of the festival featured Californian headliners Sasquatch, one of the event’s past favourites, laying down their brand of fuzzy, kick-ass Desert Rock & Heavy Psych with direct support from Vancouver’s La Chinga who returned for their 4th appearance on the Saturday night. Black Mastiff returned to headline the Friday night with Calgary’s Gone Cosmic and HypnoPilot headlined the Thursday show with support from Citizen Rage. These were just a few of the wicked bands that played at this past year’s The Electric Highway.
The Electric Highway is excited to announce once again that New Level Brewing is not only the top sponsor but is also the preferred beverage provider for The Electric Highway and all the bands on the bill. New Level Brewing is a Calgary-based award-winning Craft brewery. Pearl Jam Announce ‘Dark Matter’ Album Details and World Tour
Rock legends Pearl Jam have revealed details of their ‘Dark Matter’ album, and a full World Tour for 2024. Get all the details here…
Pearl Jam will release their twelfth studio album, Dark Matter, through Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records on April 19, 2024, and launch a 35-date worldwide tour this May. To celebrate the news, the band have shared the title track with the album marking the band’s first release since the critically-acclaimed Gigaton in 2020.
Recorded in Shangri-La Studios in Malibu where they simply plugged in and played with producer Andrew Watt at the helm. The musicians faced one another in the same space and communicated sonically at the highest level. Writing and recording in a burst of inspiration, Dark Matter was born in just three weeks.
Speaking about the album, frontman Eddie Vedder said:
“I’m getting chills because I have good memories. We’re still looking for ways to communicate. We’re at this time in our lives when you could do it or you could not do it, but we still care about putting something out there that is meaningful and that we hopefully think is our best work. No hyperbole, I think this is our best work.”
Check out the title track here:
Continuing, guitarist Jeff Ament added,
“What Ed said about getting us in a room at this point, we felt like we were about to make a really important record. A lot of that had to do with the atmosphere Andrew set up. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of our history, not only as a band and how we wrote songs but as players. He could pinpoint things we did on old songs to the point where I was like, ‘What the fuck is he talking about?’ His excitement was contagious. He’s a force. I just want to say thanks for keeping us on track. I couldn’t be prouder of us as a band. I feel so grateful for the fans, but mostly for my brothers and these people I’ve made music with.”
The band is celebrating indie record stores with the release of a special edition of Dark Matter on April 20. Only at participating stores as part of Record Store Day. Get more information and find stores at www.recordstoreday.com.
