It’s been a number of years now since Florida-based emo pioneers Dashboard Confessional graced UK shores, so, therefore, it was no surprise they managed to pack out London’s iconic Koko venue on a cold rainy Monday night.

With only one support act, it was down to noisy UK trio Black Foxxes to provide the evening’s opening entertainment, which they did so with aplomb. Combining ‘90s grunge with early 2000s emo, they were a perfect choice for an opener and displayed a captivating and brilliant performance, which resonated really well with the London crowd and definitely gained them many new fans.

The reception Dashboard Confessional frontman Chris Carrabba received stepping out alone with just an acoustic guitar for company was nothing short of epic. Kicking off with “The Best Deceptions,” the engaged crowd immediately burst into their set, singing every lyric with as much strength and enthusiasm as Carraba himself. Joined by his band on the second song “Vindicated,” the band went on to storm through a hit-laden setlist playing the likes of “The Sharp Hint Of New Tears,” “The Good Fight” and “Don’t Wait” from an impressive back catalogue spanning a nineteen-year career.

Breaking up the set by returning to the stage alone for acoustic renditions of “Carry This Picture” and “The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most,” Carraba went on to give an emotive performance of “Heart Beat Here” taken from the latest studio album Crooked Shadows, out now via Fueled By Ramen records.

Ending on full band renditions of live favorites “Screaming Infidelities,” “Stolen” and “Hands Down” proved that London was pleased to see Dashboard Confessional back, and judging by the smiles leaving Koko tonight, a return to these shores cannot come soon enough.

Dashboard Confessional know “Just What To Say” with their recently released new music video.
