Out as of September 28th, Anhedonia is the latest studio recording from The Religion, the rad musical project of songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Adam Drew. In continued promotion and celebration of the new collection of tunes, of which there are several listening/purchase options here, we’ve partnered with the artist to debut the music video for the powerful single “Lost”.

Listeners of Placebo, Depeche Mode, and even Erasure are going to dig The Religion’s funky fusion of genres the likes of synth pop, ‘70s and ‘80s prog rock, and new wave, among others. His style continues to grow and change, but so does the output’s quality and emotional impact. Adam Drew commented on the album, song and videos as follows:

“‘Anhedonia’ is an intimate album, and ‘Lost’ is the most intimate song on it. When I started thinking about videos my head went right to the poppier, more upbeat tracks and all of the fun things we could do with that. But, over time, I started to think how much more powerful it would be to look the viewer in the eye and sing this very personal and somber song, Lost, in this way that’s more like bearing your soul to a lover or a friend than a music video. That felt more honest to me, and it captured the essence of the song in a more direct way than I could have achieved with any other song through video. The result, I think, feels more like bearing witness to someone’s most private thoughts than a music video, which is really what the song is about.”
