Guitar legend Slash is part of, arguably, the biggest rock ‘n roll band in the world right now, with Guns n’ Roses touring the world for the past couple years in what can be described as the biggest comeback in the biz. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t make time for his side project with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators.

The boys played a rare show at Casino Rama Entertainment Centre last Thursday to a packed room full of fans whose interest spanned across decades of Slash’s uber-successful career accomplishments. Whether it’s GnR, Velvet Revolver, Slash’s Snakepit, or with Myles Kennedy, Canadian’s Todd Kerns and Brent Fitz, along with Frank Sidoris, the result is the same. Blistering guitar chops and iconic stage presence are always served up hot. The 70-minute set was crafted to touch on a bit of all those band periods, with 5 of the 18 tracks coming from the stellar new 2018 release Living The Dream.

Bassist Todd Kerns pulled vocal duties on a couple of songs, “Doctor Alibi” and “We’re All Gonna Die”. Kennedy offered up a convincing and raucous version of GnR’s “Nightrain”, which was a welcome change from “Rocket Queen” being part of the setlist for many of the shows on this 20-city North American Tour. As the only Canadian date this time around, it was a special night for the fans. Slash is a magician on the fretboard, with his signature sound mined from his Gibson Les Paul and trademark naked lady trucker mudflap logoed Marshall stacks resonating through the room during the many extended solos. And he still makes it look effortless, even after over 30 years peppering the entire world with his talent.

Check out the band’s latest video for the single “Driving Rain” here.
