Download Festival ANNOUNCEMENT!

Def Leppard, Slipknot and Tool have been confirmed as headliners for Download Festival 2019, which will take place at Donington Park on the weekend of June 14-16, 2019.

Download Festival’s Andy Copping said: “We’re incredibly excited to announce three legends as Download 2019 headliners. It’s not quite been 10,000 Days since we have been able to indulge in one of our favourite alt-rock bands, but after thirteen years I am thrilled to announce Tool are finally making their long-awaited return to Download. Renowned for being one of the best live bands on the planet due to their one-of-a-kind performances, Slipknot are an incredible addition to the main stage. Last but not least, I am honoured to welcome true Rock N’ Roll legends Def Leppard to Download who bring with them a UK exclusive chance to see Hysteria played in full.”

Why should you be excited about this?

1. Def Leppard
Def Leppard will play the whole of their Hysteria album, with frontman Joe Elliott saying: “We are delighted to be going back to headline Download in 2019! The festival has a very special place in our hearts and it’s such a great place to play. We will be playing Hysteria in full – yes, in full – plus a load more of the hits, and we are going to put on a very special show for our UK fans. Can’t wait to see you all there!”

2. Slipknot
Come on, it’s Slipknot! What is there not to get excited about? And after seeing Shawn Crahan tell Kerrang magazine “If that isn’t enough to make everybody wake the fuck up that we’re back, then I don’t know what the fuck else is. This is real.” you just know some serious shit is going to go down in that field in June next year!

3. Tool
Alternative rock legends Tool haven’t played the UK in absolutely yonks and Download has been waiting thirteen long years for the band to make their return to the hallowed turf at Donington Park. Get very excited about this indeed!

It’s not just about three massive headliners though, a whole host of acts have been announced for the rock weekender. Joining the headliners will be the following acts:

Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators
Whitesnake
Rob Zombie
Trivium
Amon Amarth
Carcass
Delain
Die Antwoord
Me First And The Gimme Gimmes

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
