Kinkshamer is a progressive metalcore/deathcore group hailing from Pomona, California, and, as their name ironically suggests, these guys aren’t afraid to talk about the crazy kinks that get them going. Their new single “A Most Vulgar Display” is about the thrill of public sex, and features heavy audio clips of sexual moaning, grunting and screaming, and their debut EP Societal Sects, due out later this year, deals heavily with other taboo kinks.

The band’s own Riley Rowe joins us to detail his favourite ten kinky metal bands with specific songs and kinks for each group. While you peruse this exciting and titillating list, keep in mind that although some of these kinks seem aggressive/non-consensual, consent is absolutely the name of the game, even in situations that may superficially suggest otherwise (translation: no means no). So, without further ado, Riley, please take it away…

Riley Rowe: This is a list of Kinkshamer’s most kinky metal bands and their songs. And no, I’m not gonna talk about that pornogrind trash because, come on, it’s not 1998 anymore. We’re gonna be digging deep into a few different subgenres and finding some weird fetishes that these metalheads are into and exploit them for it. Sound like fun? Damn right it does. Let the kinkshaming begin!

To help you get warmed up, check out Kinkshamer’s single, “A Most Vulgar Display”.

10. Genitorturers
Songs: “House of Shame”, “Pleasure in Restraint”, “120 Days”, “Velvet Dreams”
Kinks: Bondage, Domination, Sadism, Masochism, Humiliation

– I thought it’d be sensible to start with something a bit blatant. The Genitorturers (which is a pretty damn kinky name already) were riding on the industrial hype wave back in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s, but still held onto their punk roots. Their later material leans a bit too much on the electronics for my taste, but they have some pretty heavy material in their catalog and even recorded a couple albums with ex-Morbid Angel vocalist/bassist David Vincent. “House of Shame” is a solid example of a masochist’s wet dream.

09. Dog Fashion Disco
Songs: “Private Eye”, “Pervert”, “Pour Some Urine On Me”
Kinks: Necrophilia, Watersports, etc.

– This one’s an odd choice, I admit, yet there’s definitely some tense sexual energy here nonetheless. Although most of these songs come off as tongue-in-cheek, the imagery and poetic delivery is damn impressive. “Private Eye” presents a conversation between a prostitute and a male where the exchange features such lines as: “Pretend you’re dead, that’ll turn me on” and “Well then shut up, I’ll punch the clock, and you can fuck me ’til the blood scares you”. The track then aptly ends with the female being shot mid-fuck. Dog Fashion Disco explores other weird perverted topics throughout their entire discography, so it’s hard to pinpoint an exact kink. Regardless, get this band a therapist!

08. Type O Negative
Songs: “Unsuccessfully Coping with the Natural Beauty of Infidelity”, “Prelude to Agony”, “Machine Screw”
Kinks: Odaxelagnia, Non-Monogamy, Sex Machinery

– I got to fess up. Peter Steele was one fucking hot dude. He was hella tall, had dreamy eyes, and a large schlong (his feature in Playgirl as proof). But most of all, the dude had some freaky kinks. He made the act of biting sexually appealing way before Twilight and even coined the term “jackhammerape”. All hail Type O Negative and RIP Pete.

“Machine Screw”. I guess it’s kind of a song.

07. Emmure
Songs: “I Thought You Met Telly and Turned Me Into Casper”, “Drug Dealer Friend”
Kink: Cuckolding

– I know, I know. Emmure, really? Now hear me out. I agree that Palmeri’s lyrics mostly revolve around not giving a shit (even though he does), but there’s a couple tracks in Emmure’s catalog that reveal a different side of the nu-metalcore frontman. Lines like “I’m probably the worst fuck you ever had, I apologize the best I can” or “I wanna watch you suck his dick, I know you fucking love it bitch” are quite suggestive. Say what you will about the band, but I think they invented a new subgenre… cuckcore, anyone?

06. Justin Symbol
Songs: “Control”, “Possession”, “Golden Shower”
Kinks: Domination, Submission, Watersports

– I don’t believe this project is currently active these days, but rather resides under the group name The God Bombs (who recently were the opening act during the Ministry tour, which is rad). Nonetheless, Justin Symbol delved into a good chunk of BDSM and kinky topics through his early Marilyn Manson-tinged songs. The Voidhead LP isn’t too vulgar, but was released only back in 2014, so they get extra points for keeping classic kink alive in the 21st century.

05. Cannibal Corpse
Songs: “Fucked with a Knife”, “I Cum Blood”, “Stripped, Raped, and Strangled”, “Necropedophile”, “Orgasm Through Torture”
Kinks: Gore, Haematophilia, Necrophilia, Non-Consent, etc.

– These guys took sex and gore to the extreme. I mean damn, it’s 2018 and I’m still shocked reading these lyrics. I can totally respect if someone’s into some weird shit, but fucking a dead child? That’s where I draw the line. And yeah yeah, although I understand their lyrics aren’t meant to be taken seriously, you have to wonder where all these obscenities were coming from subconsciously. I also feel the controversy would have doubled if they released “She Was Asking For It” nowadays versus back in 1994.

Looking for something new to spice up your nights, give “Stinkfist” a try.

04. Tool
Songs: “Stinkfist”, “4°”
Kinks: Fisting, Sodomy

– Besides the fact that the band name is an allusion to one’s meaty male member as well as their initial logo of a phallic wrench with balls, Tool has some anal-related kinky songs too. Major props to these dudes for bringing the act of shoving one’s fist up another’s anal cavity to mainstream. Also, apparently the title “4°” refers to how one’s butthole is four degrees warmer than one’s vag-hole. Pretty interesting stuff. Lastly, I almost mentioned “Prison Sex”, but I’m fairly certain that track is more-so about molestation/abuse and that ain’t fucking kinky or cool. Fisting on the other hand, now that’s some righteous kinkiness.

03. Brojob
Songs: “Be My Valentine”, “Talk Shit Get Kissed”
Kinks: Fisting with Brass Knuckles, Flossing Teeth with Bootyhole Hairs, and more

– Just to be clear, there’s nothing wrong or kinky about being gay. That’s all natural, baby. Everything else this band sings about though, is some grade A kink creativity. Neither Shakespeare nor Lord Byron ever uttered such poetic, romantic lines as “give me a hickey with your butthole” or “I wanna use your cock as a snorkel and swim in the sea of your ass”.

02. Judas Priest
Songs: “Evil Fantasies”, “Hell Bent for Leather”, “Eat Me Alive”
Kinks: Sadism/Masochism… and obviously leather

– Admittedly, their discography isn’t exactly rich with kink-fueled lyricism, but there are a couple gems within that show off the band’s sexual drive. Besides a few tracks boasting forced oral at gunpoint and other dark sexual scenarios, Judas Priest’s visual aesthetic was the act’s most significant kinky aspect in bridging the gap between the leather scene and the metal world. Rob Halford’s full leather and studded outfits (resembling BDSM attire) paved the way for the future of metal fashion.

The ultimate BDSM anthem: “Closer”.

01. Nine Inch Nails
Songs: Entire Broken EP, “Closer”
Kink: BDSM

– At this point, I’d assume most of you are like “duh, Nine Inch Nails are super kinky and deserve to be number one on this list. Great article, I’m going to comment and share with all my friends.” But for anyone who disagrees, prepare for your mind to be drastically persuaded. First of all, like Judas Priest, Nine Inch Nails was essential in connecting a BDSM aesthetic to metal music. Have you ever watched the music videos for “Closer”, “Wish”, “Happiness in Slavery”, “Pinion”, or “Help Me I Am in Hell”? Well if you haven’t, go check them out right now in incognito mode. Those videos are pure filmography masterpieces loaded with R-rated BDSM imagery.

Secondly, the Broken EP is the most pure soundtrack for anything BDSM related. “Happiness in Slavery” and the “Physical (You’re So)” Adam & the Ants cover in particular, evoke such a sinister sexual mood. Why the producers of Fifty Shades of Grey chose to go with Danny Elfman, Beyonce, Sia, The Weekend, and other pop artists on their soundtrack is beyond me.

Thirdly, if Reznor hadn’t taken Marilyn Manson under his wing, I don’t think the Antichrist Superstar artist would have emerged as successful. Sure, Manson had a buttload of provocative ideas, but without the production value and platform that Reznor offered him on the Portrait of an American Family LP and the Self Destruct Tour respectively, I honestly don’t believe Marilyn Manson would have been nearly as big. Also yes, Marilyn Manson is a pretty kinky artist as well so consider this brief shoutout him being included.

And last, but not least: “Closer”. I’ve already mentioned how impactful the music video for this single was, but the lyrics to that chorus! “I want to fuck you like an animal” is one of the most iconic lines to insinuate rough sex and I’m sure it inspired a good amount of rough sex as well. All in all, Nine Inch Nails is most definitely the kinkiest band in metal history. They never got too cheesy and never took things too far, yet still managed to influence a generation to get down with the BDSM scene.

Societal Sects, Kinkshamer’s debut EP, is due out later this year.
