Full Circle: The Birth, Death & Rebirth of Circle of Dust takes viewers on an in-depth journey into the highly influential industrial metal act Circle of Dust. Fronted by Klayton of Celldweller/Scandroid fame, this well-compiled together documentary tells the story of Klayton’s humble beginnings, from writing music in his parents basement, to getting professional gear and landing his first record deal with R.E.X. Records, then covering the early touring days and the band’s eventual success and cult following.
A plethora of interviews with friends, family, and industry professionals (myself included), combined with rare, never before seen VHS footage from the early years, weaves a narrative of hard work and persistence. This is a behind-the-scenes look into an act that changed the electro-industrial landscape, but, as you might expect of a music business story, the road was fraught with many pitfalls. Along the way, there are numerous issues and setbacks, including a record company dispute that ultimately dissolved the band and launched Klayton’s Celldweller career.
Circle of Dust fans are going to totally dig this massive DVD package: along with the main documentary it also includes an insane amount of bonus footage such as live bootleg videos, music and lyric videos, and even some rare footage of Argyle Park (another of Klayton’s early side projects).
