Honolulu, Hawaii blues rockers Kings of Spade have unveiled their new single “Bottoms Up” and we’ve got your first listen! This is a monumental occasion and it’s in celebration of the band’s new self-titled album, due October 19th via Soundly Music (you can pre-order it right here). It’s a crunchy, riffy-filled track, in the mold of the group’s s influences including Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, among others.

To get the best and most efficient blues and soul undertones they possibly could, the guys worked with producer Dave Cobb, responsible for albums with acts the likes of Rival Sons, Judah and the Lion and Chris Stapleton. It required only two weeks to produce which speaks to King of Spade’s chemistry, with Cobb at the helm.

Without further ado, it’s time to yell “Bottoms Up!”

“This is just a raucous party anthem filled with nods from good times we had in our 20s… a lot of drinking, ecstacy, staying up for days on end with a ‘fuck it’ attitude. I got a mug full of Jager, living on a prayer, chemicals in the mix… Our band befriended an older woman named Sue who used to drink a mug full of Jagermeister filled to the brim. We were in our 20s and she was at least 70 but could party all of us under the table. She was one of our bands biggest supporters in the early days. We all had her nickname initials ‘SZQ’ tattooed on us when she passed away.

That was a nod to her. ‘Got a spill on your white dress, hair like a hot mess, shuffle down the walk of shame…’ I lived on a college campus where almost every kid was pledged into the Greek fraternity/sorority system. Alcohol wasn’t allowed in sororities so all drinking and partying was done at a frat house. Early in the morning, you would see all the girls who stayed the night at a frat houses wearing their clothes and make-up from the night before shuffling back to their sorority house…. this was nicknamed the ‘walk of shame.’”
