Leeds Punks UNCOMELY Serve Up a Track-by-Track for Their ‘Games People Play’ EP [Exclusive]
Uncomely released their newest EP Games People Play on July 27th, and, in the spirit of being good sports, they gave us a track-by-track breakdown of the four-song release.
Leeds-based punk rockers Uncomely released Games People Play on July 27th and we are happy to have them narrate a track-by-track overview for the four-song EP. The collaboration of two Latvians, an Italian, and an Englishman, these lads fuse their grunge and punk influences to create a signature sound consisting of snarling vocals and propellant rhythms which coalesce as intelligently manicured fury. Head below for a video, the full EP stream, not to mention what the band have to say about the newest release. #rock
01. “Fun Times”
– “Fun Times” is my most hated song on this record and it was recorded and published against my will. Just kidding. This song takes me down memory lane back to the beginning when Uncomely was starting to explore the live music scene in Riga, Latvia. What you can hear now is a collaborative work of musicians, artists and positive minded people of different national and cultural backgrounds, not restrained by everyday absurdism. -Arthur (guitar)
Dudes, this video is nothing but “Fun Times”!
02. “Love Yourself”
– “Love Yourself” was inspired by my psychedelic trips to the Canarian volcanic islands. Waking up with the sun at the top of a volcano, meeting travellers from around the world and learning about zen philosophy. It explores how easily we can get stuck in our everyday routines and behaviour patterns. We’re currently working on the finishing touches to a video for this song. While filming the video I followed a street dancer, Disco Bunny [starred in Kasabian’s “You’re In Love With a Psycho” Video], around the streets of Brighton for a weekend. -Tom (vocals/guitar)
03. “Games People Play”
– I started working on ideas for this song after reading the book of the same name by Transaction Analysts founder Eric Berne. I found reading this book really insightful to the many barriers we create ourselves while seeking a true connection with our own spirit and people around us. What is your scenario? -Tom (vocals/guitar)
04. “Absolutely”
– This song is my favourite on the EP. It’s the shortest track but the most explosive and generally epic. Jamie and Lee (at Greenmount Studios where we recorded the EP) used the room and drum overhead mics ingeniously to create a tight crisp sound in the intro, building up to a loose and thick wall of sound at the end. Most of all though, it’s great fun to play! -Arthur (bass)
