If you haven’t already heard of LINKS, then what the hell is wrong with you? We are thrilled to be offering a first listen of the artist’s brand new single “97 Barz”, the introduction to his long-awaited new EP T.S.I.O., short for “The Struggle Is Over”. (Find the song at Spotify and iTunes.) Illustrating his savviness behind the mic, LINKS shows off his lyrical prowess while inserting words of his own personal experiences over a trap beat, reinforced by the rapper’s distinctive delivery. T.S.I.O. serves as only one part of a big year for Links, with the EP serving as a transition project between his previous album and his next record.
“I want to educate, open minds, and share my experiences… The reason why I put my lifestyle into my music is because I want to be a voice for those who don’t have one… People don’t realize that whatever you put into your body, you digest it, then it comes out. That saying does not only pertain to food, but also music, media, negative people, avoidable circumstances, and the list could go on.”
Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Links has been through it all, growing up in cities all over The United States. He was a foster child early in his youth which caused him to grow up learning to adapt easily to different ups and downs and also frequently making new friends in new places. Part of why he chose the name Links is as a result of the fact that he’s the only connection ‘link-ing’ all of these life experiences together. “Well I mean, I’ve always been a hyperactive kid running around on Ritalin, but I channeled my anxiety and aggression through sports, music and arts,” he commented. Links served in the Air Force for four years and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Recording Arts in 2014.
