It’s odd to think that just over three months ago most of the UK was under two feet of snow as, now, we’re sat going through something of a very welcome heatwave. So, as the UK is now basking in the heat, we thought we’d get UK singer Lucy Spraggan to provide her Summer playlist ahead of her US dates later this year.

1. “Lust for Life” – Lana Del Ray
“I’m a huge Lana fan and love her new record. This song takes me to the top of the Hollywood sign, it’s a real Summer tune.”

2. “Same Love” – Macklemore
“I love the sentiment and forwardness of this song. Macklemore didn’t have to write a song about LGBT rights – but he did. I have huge respect for him.”

3. “Light Up The Sky” – The Dunwells
“The Dunwells are an amazing band from Leeds, UK. They supported me on a UK tour in 2015 which is when I fell in love with this song. Their harmonies are beautiful.”

4. “Braveheart” – Callum Beattie
“I weirdly met Callum on a train to London and we met again in Austin TX for SXSW where I heard him sing for the first time. I LOVE his songs and this is a favourite.”

5. “Feeling Myself” – WILL.I.am
“It’s my jam!”

6. “Pure Morning” – Placebo
“”Pure Morning” is one of those classic songs to BLAST in the morning whilst getting ready for the day.”

7. “Over and Over” – Hot Chip
“Hot Chip remind me of a summer in Brighton, UK as a teenager. Lots of nostalgia in their songs and their electro beats are unforgettable.”

8. “Foundations” – Kate Nash
“I’ve always been a huge Kate Nash fan, especially her earlier EPs. Everyone loves this song so I included it in my faves.”

9. “Sanctify” – Years and Years
“It’s rare in modern pop music to hear a song that you are taken aback by. Sanctify is just an epic tune.”

10. “1234” – Fiest
“Fiest has one of the most subtly brilliant voices, this song was on repeat for the majority of my youth.”

11. “Africa” – Toto
“This song explains itself! Legendary.”

12. “Rude” – Magic
“I love it when reggae/ska makes an appearance in the pop genre, this song is fun and it’s tells a story. Just my cup of tea.”

13. “Heatwave” – Wiley
“To me, this song says SUMMER IS HERE. If I hear this I am immediately on the dance floor.”

I have an unhealthy obsession with bad horror movies, the song Wanted Dead Or Alive and crap British game shows. I do this not because of the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle it affords me but more because it gives me an excuse to listen to bands that sound like hippos mating.
