If the name Nate Barnes rings a bell, that’s probably because you’re familiar with his work in Rose Hill Drive, or his drumming for Mary Chapin Carpenter and Ryan Bingham. If not, you’re in luck because we’ve got a free download of the Boulder, CO native’s song “Falling Away”, a perfect introduction to his solo project, Plutinos.
The single is taken from Plutinos’ debut offering, the five-track Plutinos EP, which was self-released on January 17th. A truly DIY affair, all of the EP’s music was written, performed, engineered, mixed, and even mastered Barnes himself. But, after years spent working and writing with other artists, it was exactly what he wanted to do. His music is deep, personal, and above all else, what he wanted to create, without outside influence. The dreamy/surfy indie rock borders on post-rock and shoegaze, but always remains very vibey. We think you’re going to dig it, so check it out above!
Commenting on our new free single download, Barnes left us with some parting words: “For me ‘Falling Away’ is about the passing of time and the struggles that life can throw at you in the process, and speaks to that inner hope and yearning that can help give you the strength to persevere when faced with challenges that obscure the the right choices or the right path you are meant to take.”
