North West London’s The Statue Thieves is a psychedelic and soul-infused rock quartet with meaningful messages and damn-fine music to boot. With three EPs under their collective belt (all of which you can find at Bandcamp), the guys are now beginning to tease their upcoming debut full-length recording Laniakea and, today, are unveiling the single and music video for “Jacob’s Well”.

The clip for the two-minute single was shot in one take, played backwards, and is loaded with symbolism. Life, death, creative drive, inspiration, sexuality, a metaphysical journey… deep meaning abounds and will not be lost on savvy viewers. With lyrics based on a hallucination — about being physically present in reality but in a completely different mindset — the track describes the process of using a substance to treat someone’s pain and feel in paradise before it comes down.

Adding to that, the group noted of the song, “‘Jacob’s Well’ is the first single taken from the album Laniakea and a psychedelic trip through the corridors of the mind and depths of humanity.”
